Content and Database Rights

This website contains copyright-protected texts, graphic elements, interface components, curatorial formulations, model structures and a database-organized set of records, relations, metadata and other elements. Unless explicitly stated otherwise for a specific item, the economic rights in these elements are exercised by the website operator.

The database content of the service may be protected under two legal regimes:

  1. copyright in the structure or selection of the database, where that structure is original,
  2. the sui generis right of the database maker, where obtaining, verifying or arranging the contents required substantial investment.

Users are allowed to browse the website in the ordinary way, use the interface to navigate the model and make reasonable quotations with proper attribution, provided they do so in accordance with the law and these rules. Publication of content on the website does not mean consent to systematic copying, bulk downloading, extraction or commercial re-use.

Without prior consent of the operator, it is not permitted in particular to:

  • systematically extract or re-utilize substantial parts of the database content,
  • create substitute, mirrored or competing databases based on the service content,
  • bulk download, aggregate or synchronize database content using automated means,
  • remove notices of origin, authorship, licensing or other legal notices,
  • commercially redistribute content or substantial parts of it without an appropriate license.

These rules do not affect rights granted to users by mandatory law, including quotation rights and other legal exceptions.

Selected datasets, exports, contributions or other parts of the service may be subject to a different legal or licensing regime. In such a case, the specific designation takes precedence over this general notice.
